Things I learned from the Walters...

In March our family traveled to California for Jason to attend the Shepherd's Conference and for us to get time to visit with the lovely Walters family: Nate, Shalane, and baby Silas. Throughout the week I learned many things, and have been planning since before we got home to blog about them. So, here I am (finally)....presenting the things I learned from the Walter:

1. Boiling chicken is possible and is in fact a fabulous idea. Especially if you are making something like chicken and yellow rice or soup (or anything for that matter) that calls for shredded chicken. Ingenius.

2. Black bean and cheese quesadillas are delicious and all you have to do is pop open a can of black beans, add some cheese, and make a quesadilla.

3.Jiffy corn bread mix is sweet, delicios and only costs 48 cents at Wal-Mart. FORTY-EIGHT CENTS!!

4. How to make chili (although I still need to bug Shalane for the recipe)

5. Chihuahuas dont have to be perpetually yappy and if we ever decide to get one I will beg Shalane to train it.

6. Homedics noise makers rock and almost entirely block out the noise of three barking German Shepherds who are unhappy with the recent addition to their back yard ...of a cow.

7. Raisins in cereal is delicious and adds a little fruit to an otherwise carbo loaded breakfast. (Not that I am opposed to carbo loaded breakfasts, for the record.)

8. The California desert is chilly in March. Chilly.

9. The Joshua Tree only grows in the desert of California, and Israel. Pretty rare people, pretty rare.

10. Bathing two babies at once is even more fun and cute than only one baby at once.

And there you have it people....ten major lessons in one short week. There are other things I could add, but these are the most interesting ones:o)

Thank you again Nate, Shalane, and Silas for hosting us for a whole week!! We are so grateful.

This post made me smile. Had you never had Jiffy cornbread mix?
