Every evening around 5:30, when it starts to get dark, I turn on our front porch lights. Why? Because I know that within the hour, although I don't know the exact time, my husband Jason will be coming home. The other day I went to flip on the lights, and I thought about the fact that I was "waiting expectantly" for Jason to come home. He told me that he was coming, and I had faith that he would. This struck a chord in my heart and I thought, hmmm, I think that's the way we ought to approach the Lord. Flipping on the lights in our hearts, waiting in expectation for what He wants to show us about who He is and how we should live in light of that truth. Waiting as if our heart is a home, and Jesus is going to walk in the door at any moment....Waiting in faith because He promises to draw near to those who draw near to Him. He is so very good.
I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11
Oh the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments and unfathomable His ways! Romans 11:33
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Waiting in expectation.
Psalm 5:3 - In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Psalm 119:81 - My soul languishes for Your salvation; I wait for Your word.
Galatians 5:5 - For we throught the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.
